A young woman swings, kicking off a shoe; her admirer lies hidden in the bushes below, looking up; an unwitting older man works the ropes behind her. On the left a stone cupid holds a finger to its lips. The commission reportedly came with instructions about exactly this arrangement, and one painter turned it down before Fragonard took it. Wallace Collection, London.
