#67 Salisbury Cathedral from the Bishop's Grounds — Coaster

The bishop of Salisbury commissioned it, and then objected to the sky. Constable had painted a dark cloud over the spire, the bishop wanted clear weather over his cathedral, and Constable painted the whole thing again with a better day in it. This is one of the versions that followed. The two small figures at the bottom left are the bishop and his wife, put there by the man being asked to change his own painting.
