Look at the woman at the right edge, her face lit acid green by the electric light. After Toulouse-Lautrec died, someone cut that whole section off the canvas, along with the bottom strip — a dealer's judgement that the picture would sell better without her. The pieces were kept, and decades later they were put back. He is in the painting himself: the very short man in the background, walking behind his tall cousin. Art Institute of Chicago.
